    • Abstract:
Cactus poaching is a growing problem that threatens the health and survival of many cacti and succulent species. Poachers illegally remove and harvest these plants from their natural habitats, often stealing thousands of plants at a time. The high demand for cacti and succulents, both for profit and as indoor plants, has fueled this illegal activity. Poaching not only disrupts ecosystems but also puts over 30 percent of the world's cactus species at risk of extinction. Penalties for cactus poaching vary by location but can include fines and imprisonment. It is important for collectors to procure their specimens legally and be cautious of purchasing plants from suspicious sources. [Extracted from the article]
