    • Abstract:
The number of reported data breaches is increasing despite the growing awareness of and spending on cybersecurity. Three factors are driving this trend. First, ransomware attacks have evolved, with the emergence of ransomware gangs allowing more criminals to participate. These attacks are also becoming more damaging as hackers now steal data in addition to locking it up. Second, cloud misconfigurations have made the cloud an attractive target for hackers, with 82% of breaches in 2023 involving data stored in the cloud. Lastly, hackers are exploiting vulnerabilities in vendor systems to gain access to multiple organizations. To address these issues, organizations need to better understand the risks they are taking and improve their security measures. [Extracted from the article]
