A study conducted by researchers at Washington State University aimed to understand the decisions of breastfeeding individuals to use cannabis. The study collected survey data from twenty participants who used cannabis at least once weekly and analyzed factors associated with their decisions. The findings revealed that 55% of participants used cannabis to treat health conditions, primarily related to mental health. Additionally, 80% of participants had few concerns about using cannabis while breastfeeding, although those using it for medical purposes had more concerns.
