- Abstract:
Sidechain compression is a mixing tool commonly used in club music to create a pumping effect. It can add energy and space to individual sounds, submixes, and mixes while maintaining a punchy sound. Sidechain compression involves using an external input, such as a sound from the mix or a specially created key, to control the compressor. This technique can be achieved through various methods, including setting up a compressor with external sidechain options, using a bespoke sidechain track, or utilizing a bus as the sidechain source. Multiple tracks can also be processed collectively to create a uniform effect. Additionally, alternative plugins and techniques, such as Nicky Romero Kickstart 2 and LFO Tool, can be used to achieve similar pumping effects. [Extracted from the article]
