      The author comments on gun ownership and the culture of violence in the U.S. He traces the culture of violence in the U.S. to its history of slavery, lynchings, racism, poverty, marginalization, antisemitism and mass incarceration. He emphasizes the need to combat gun violence focusing on mental health and well-being in addressing individual struggles and community pain and the need for gun laws that protect children and adults threatened by intimate partner violence.
