      El artículo analiza la evolución de los estudios sobre la religión en Uruguay durante los siglos XX y XXI. Se destaca la originalidad de la idiosincrasia sociopolítica y la identidad colectiva del país, así como el aprecio por los monopolios. A partir de la década de 1990, ha surgido una nueva historiografía religiosa que ha comenzado a abordar estos temas. Se presentan obras destacadas y se mencionan desafíos pendientes en la investigación de la historia del cristianismo en Uruguay. El artículo también ofrece un dossier sobre autores, instituciones y temas del siglo XX que no han sido estudiados en profundidad, contribuyendo al conocimiento de la historia religiosa en el país.       The article analyzes the evolution of studies on religion in Uruguay during the 20th and 21st centuries. It highlights the originality of the sociopolitical idiosyncrasy and collective identity of the country, as well as the appreciation for monopolies. Since the 1990s, a new religious historiography has emerged that has begun to address these issues. Prominent works are presented and pending challenges in the research of the history of Christianity in Uruguay are mentioned. The article also offers a dossier on authors, institutions, and 20th-century topics that have not been deeply studied, contributing to the knowledge of religious history in the country.
