African art as an economic instrument in the era of globalization: case of the bamum kingdom. (English)

While some critical voices are criticizing the high consideration given to the trade of cultural wealth, the bamum kingdom seems to present itself as an important center of production, diffusion or trading of so called african art objects. Therefore, Foumban can be seen and registered like the town whose population are aware of the economic potentiality that represent art and culture. In this era of globalization, many strategies are used and allow actors of art world to gain and to permit to this town to benefit more in term of notoriety. Through this case study based on the using of qualitative methods towards more than thirty persons we choosed specially, our aim is to highlight the economic aspect of this sector that increase in this region. Alors que des voix s’élèvent de plus en plus pour dénoncer la marchandisation à outrance des biens culturels, le royaume bamum semble s’illustrer comme un important foyer de production, de diffusion ou de commercialisation d’objets dits d’art africain. C’est ainsi que Foumban en particulier s’inscrit résolument dans le registre des villes dont les populations ont pris conscience du potentiel économique que représentent les arts et la culture. Dans un tel contexte dit de mondialisation, de nombreuses stratégies sont employées et permettent aux acteurs du monde de l’art de tirer le meilleur parti et de permettre à cette ville qui a acquis sa notoriété dans ce sillage de capitaliser davantage. À travers cette étude de cas fondée sur l’emploi des méthodes qualitatives auprès d’une trentaine d’enquêteurs triés sur le volet, nous entendons mettre en évidence la dimension économique de ce secteur en pleine croissance dans cette région et qui connait dès lors un boom sans précédent.
