- Abstract:
Lockheed Martin Skunk Works and NASA have unveiled the X-59, an experimental aircraft designed to reduce the noise of sonic booms. The X-59 is expected to fly at 925mph, which is 1.4 times the speed of sound, and is part of NASA's Quesst mission to enable supersonic flights over land. The aircraft's unique design, including a thin, tapered nose, aims to break up shock waves and create a quieter sonic boom. [Extracted from the article]
