A recent study conducted in Puducherry, India compared the effects of ketamine and propofol on airway collapsibility in children undergoing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The study found that adding a single dose of ketamine to propofol significantly reduced upper airway collapse, as measured by MRI-based measurements of upper airway dimensions. This research suggests that ketamine may be beneficial in preventing airway collapse in children undergoing MRI, which is important for ensuring adequate sedation during the procedure.
