    • Abstract:
This article, published in the Journal of Neurological Surgery, examines the long-term outcomes of cerebral bypasses for the treatment of skull base tumors. The study investigated bypasses performed between 2005 and 2020 at a high-volume tertiary center. The results showed that bypasses are valuable in revascularizing intracranial circulation compromised by invading skull base tumors. The most common tumor type observed was meningioma, and the saphenous venous graft was the most commonly used graft. The study found that immediate bypass patency was 96%, and long-term patency for patients with over 12 months of follow-up was 92%. The authors conclude that bypasses remain useful in treating complex skull base tumors and have excellent long-term patency rates. [Extracted from the article]
