    • Abstract:
The New York Public Library's Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, a treasured 1911 landmark, has undergone a series of renovations and updates to accommodate changing user needs. The most recent phase of renovation, carried out by Dutch firm Mecanoo and preservation architect Beyer Blinder Belle, focused on enhancing circulation and accommodating expanded programmatic requirements. The renovation included the addition of a side entrance, a new stair-and-elevator core, and the transformation of various spaces into a visitor center, gallery, and shop. The project aimed to respect the building's original design while improving functionality and flow. [Extracted from the article]
