- Abstract:
This article discusses the atypical mutations of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in resected stage I non-small-cell lung cancers (NSCLC). The study found that patients with atypical EGFR mutations had similar disease-free survival (DFS) compared to those with typical EGFR mutations. However, patients with the L861Q mutation had the poorest DFS among those with atypical mutations. The study also explored the differences in DFS between patients with exon 20 insertion mutation and major atypical mutation, suggesting that segmentectomy may not be the best option for patients with major atypical EGFR mutations and solid nodules of less than 2 cm. The article highlights the importance of EGFR testing in personalized care and raises new questions for future studies. [Extracted from the article]
