    • Alternate Title:
Genesis and historical-social contexts of the transformation of western civilization in the 20th century in the works of Pitrim Sorokin. (English)
    • Abstract:
The aim of the presented article is the content analysis of selected texts of the Russian sociologist Pitrim Sorokin. This theory was born out of disillusionment with the unfulfilled promises given to us by the Enlightenment. The certainty of rational knowledge has disappeared. The idea of a rationally managed humanist society turned out to be a simple utopia, and after the experience of the world wars, it seems that no one believes in the ideology of modernism anymore. We should not understand all these changes in the context of the concept of postmodernity (that is, something other than modernity), but as the result of humanity's self-reflection after the unfulfilled hopes of an enlightened superman.
