Regional and territorial cooperation is an important component of funds dedicated to the Instrument for Preaccession Assistance II (IPA II). The participation of the state, private entities, community and third sector make cross border cooperation a strong tool for joint initiatives in various economic, social, environmental and political fields. Within IPA II, the Western Balkans CBC has been provided an added value in terms of funding local development in isolated, peripheral areas that have historically received little policy attention and investments from national governments. The focus of the research will be on CBC funds results regarding regional cooperation within WBC. The paper will analyze the cross-border cooperation differences between different municipalities based in financial assistance from EU, IPA II funds (2014-2020) as a region at the external border of EU identification of different degrees of involvement of border municipalities/settlements in cross-border cooperation in the Balkan region and its impact in promoting good neighbour's relationship.
