The article discusses the importance of the inclusion of LGBTQIA+ topics in teaching music. It describes the goals of culturally responsive teaching, as well as the lack of preservice coursework on LGBTQIA+ topics and the professional development needed to incorporate queer culture into educators' teaching practice. It explains queer theory and ways of incorporating it into a culturally responsive music education.
