    • Abstract:
The Supreme Court may have to decide whether Donald Trump's involvement in the January 6th Capitol insurrection disqualifies him from seeking the presidency. The Colorado Supreme Court recently ruled that an obscure provision in the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, known as the "insurrection clause," bars anyone deemed an "insurrectionist" from serving in office. This ruling marks the first time the insurrection clause has been used to disqualify a presidential candidate. Trump plans to appeal the decision, and similar challenges are being made in other states, meaning the Supreme Court will likely have to settle the matter. [Extracted from the article]
