DOCUMENTARY FILM APPROACHES IN THE CONTEXT OF TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTS. (English)

Documentary film, which contributes to the formation of collective memory with its discourses and which is the carrier of culture, draws attention with its dynamic quality in the line of development. The most important motivation that triggers the dynamism in the adventure of documentary film, which interprets reality through aesthetic sensations within the framework of ethical paradigms, is that the art of cinema closely follows the possibilities of technology as a unique way of expression. Therefore, technological advances as well as socio-economic and political conjuncture play an integral part in the history of documentary film. The digitalization of camera and sound technology considered as two of the most important devices in the production phase of documentary film, and the editing technique, which is one of the most effective tools of the post-production phase, taking on a completely different dimension with computer technology are among the pioneering technological initiatives that deeply affect documentary film production. Technology not only has affected the logic of documentary production but also has transformed the ways of reaching the audience -television, computer, internet and finally digital film/series platforms-which have been essential since the development of documentary film. In this context, the main purpose of the study is to reveal these breaks in the history of documentary film, to examine documentary film approaches that have changed and transformed within the framework of technological developments apart from evaluating how all these technical advances have led to the transformation in the narrative language and aesthetics of documentary film. The limited number of studies in the national literature on the background of the new documentary language that emerged after these technical initiatives in documentary film made it necessary to conduct this study. In addition to summarizing these approaches in the field of documentary film, reviewing them systematically and reaching a synthesis is one of the main contributions of the study to the literature. Toplumsal belleğin oluşumuna söylemleriyle katkı sunan ve kültürün taşıyıcısı konumunda olan belgesel film gelişim çizgisi içerisinde devinimsel niteliğiyle dikkat çekmektedir. Gerçeği etik paradigmalar çerçevesinde estetik duyumlarla yorumlayan belgesel filmin serüveninde bu devinimselliği tetikleyen en önemli motivasyon ise, sinema sanatının bir ifade aracı olarak teknolojinin imkanlarını yakından takip etmesidir. Dolayısıyla sosyo-ekonomik ve politik konjonktür kadar teknolojik ilerlemeler de belgesel film tarihinde kilit rol oynamaktadır. Belgesel filmin yapım aşamasındaki en önemli aygıtlarından kabul edilen kamera ve ses teknolojisinin zaman içerisinde dijitalleşmesi, yapım sonrası aşamasının en etkin araçlarından olan kurgu tekniğinin bilgisayar teknolojisiyle bambaşka bir boyuta bürünmesi belgesel film yapımını derinden etkileyen öncül teknolojik girişimler arasındadır. Teknoloji yalnızca belgeselin üretim mantığını etkilememiş aynı zamanda belgesel filmin doğuşundan bu yana elzem olan izleyiciye ulaşma şekillerini de -televizyon, bilgisayar, internet ve son olarak dijital film/dizi platformlarıyladönüşüme uğratmıştır. Bu bağlamda, çalışmanın temel amacı belgesel film tarihindeki bu kırılmaları açığa çıkartarak teknolojik gelişmeler çerçevesinde değişen ve dönüşen belgesel film yaklaşımlarını incelemek ve tüm bu teknik ilerlemelerin belgesel filmin anlatım dili ve estetiği üzerinde nasıl bir dönüşüme yol açtığını değerlendirmektir. Belgesel filmde bu teknik girişimlerin ardından ortaya çıkan yeni belgesel dilinin artalanıyla ilgili ulusal literatürde kısıtlı çalışmanın olması bu çalışmanın yapılmasını zaruri kılmıştır. Belgesel film alanındaki söz konusu bu yaklaşımların özetlenmesinin yanı sıra sistematik bir şekilde derlenmesi ve bir senteze ulaşılması çalışmanın literatüre sunacağı katkıların başında gelmektedir.
