- Abstract:
This study was carried out to investigate the fungal diversity in soils using various diversity indices. Soil samples were obtained from five distinct sites in the southern part of Hillah city. The physical, chemical, and biological analyses were examined into soil samples. There were both macroscopy and microscopy methods used to identify the isolated mold fungi in soils. Various diversity indices (Shannon - Wiener, Simpson, Margalef, Menhinick, Buzas-Gibson's, and Berger-Parker) were used to recognize fungal diversity in soils. The result revealed that Aspergillus species was dominant in most soils, with isolates belonging to a total of 20 species across 9 genera. The soil that had highest counts of fungi showed greatest diversity, whereas richness and evenness indices showed considerable fluctuation in response to soil parameters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
