      The article focuses on the structural visualization of transcription initiation in eukaryotic RNA polymerase II (Pol II) and the associated preinitiation complex (PIC) through cryo–electron microscopy. Topics discussed include the role of general transcription factors (GTFs) in facilitating Pol II to open the core promoter, and the dynamic transitions from open-promoter PIC complex to early elongation complex (EEC).
