    • Abstract:
The Alliance for the Wild Rockies, Roam Free Nation, Gallatin Wildlife Association, and Council on Wildlife and Fish have sent a letter to Mary Erickson, Supervisor of the Custer Gallatin National Forest, requesting the closure of Beattie Gulch to hunting. The area, located between Yellowstone National Park and Gardiner, Montana, is a natural funnel that concentrates bison during their migration out of the park. Concerns for public safety have been raised due to the proximity of private homes and the risk of high-powered rifle bullets. The Forest Service has closed Beattie Gulch to hunting in the past, and the organizations believe it is a responsible action to protect public safety. [Extracted from the article]
