- Abstract:
Wab Kinew, the first First Nations premier in Manitoba, aims to start with a clean slate and move forward with progress. Kinew, who has overcome addiction and legal troubles in the past, wants to navigate reconciliation, carbon taxes, and crime. He emphasizes the importance of listening and talking to people in his various roles, including as a CBC broadcaster and rapper. Kinew is committed to improving healthcare and addressing the needs of Indigenous communities, while also promoting reconciliation and taking a long-term view. He believes that politicians should focus on getting things done and not engage in divisive tactics. Kinew draws inspiration from his Indigenous traditions and strives to be a positive role model for his children. [Extracted from the article]
