Opportunities and Risks of a Digitalization of Addiction Prevention: Experiences Gained from the Covid-19 Pandemic. (English)

Abstract: Background: The Covid-19 pandemic led to far-reaching restrictions on public and private life and, as a result, to considerable deficits in the availability of addiction prevention services. Difficulties in accessing specific groups, overwhelming demands, but also a lack of time and financial resources were just some of the challenges that had to be overcome. Methods and results : The survey of over 1,200 people working in addiction prevention provides an insight into their experiences during this challenging period. At the same time, different needs of technical, structural, and personal nature can be identified regarding a (partial) digitalization of addiction prevention work. Conclusions: The insights gained into the strengths and weaknesses of digital addiction prevention work can also be considered as a basis for necessary modifications and transformation processes for these areas in the future. Zusammenfassung:Hintergrund: Die Covid-19-Pandemie führte zu weitreichenden Einschränkungen des öffentlichen und privaten Lebens und infolgedessen auch zu erheblichen Defiziten in der Versorgung mit suchtpräventiven Angeboten. Der erschwerte Zugang zu Zielgruppen, Überforderung, aber auch fehlende zeitliche und finanzielle Ressourcen waren nur einige der zu bewältigenden Herausforderungen. Methodik und Ergebnisse: Die Befragung von über 1200 in der Suchtprävention arbeitenden Personen gibt einen Einblick in ihre Erfahrungen während dieser herausfordernden Zeit. Zugleich lassen sich unterschiedliche Bedarfe technischer, struktureller und persönlicher Natur mit Blick auf eine (partielle) Digitalisierung der suchtpräventiven Arbeit identifizieren. Schlussfolgerungen: Die gewonnenen Erkenntnisse über Stärken und Schwächen digitaler suchtpräventiver Arbeit können dabei auch zukünftig als Grundlage für erforderliche Modifikationen und Transformationsprozesse betrachtet werden.
