    • Abstract:
The Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA have reached agreements with AI companies that strike a balance between protecting workers and allowing the use of AI tools in screenwriting and performance creation. The agreements include job protections against AI abuse, consent, and protection against pay diminishment. AI companies are pleased with the outcome, as it sets up guardrails for further development of AI tools. While some SAG-AFTRA members are concerned about AI-generated actors taking jobs, the union's chief negotiator has emphasized that the goal is not to eradicate AI but to use it as an essential tool to augment human creativity. The agreements also include provisions for regular meetings between studios and unions to monitor advances in technology. Overall, these agreements are seen as a major landmark in Hollywood's history. [Extracted from the article]
