Disorder of iron metabolism as one of the causes of liver cirrhosis. (English)
- Abstract:
Cirrhosis of the liver is a chronic liver disease characterized by the gradual deterioration of the function of healthy liver tissue. Although several factors contribute to the development of liver cirrhosis, iron metabolism disorders are gradually becoming more and more recognized as the most important cause of disease progression. Iron is an important trace element that performs various physiological processes in the body, including oxygen transport, energy production and cell metabolism. However, excessive iron accumulation in the liver can lead to oxidative stress, inflammation, and tissue damage, ultimately leading to cirrhosis. This article will examine the role of impaired iron metabolism as a cause of liver cirrhosis, the associated mechanisms, risk factors, and potential therapeutic interventions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
