    • Abstract:
A Colorado judge has ruled that former President Donald Trump can remain on the 2024 election ballots, despite his involvement in the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol. The judge found that while Trump engaged in an "insurrection," the US Constitution's ban on insurrectionists holding public office does not apply to a former president running for reelection. This ruling is the first constitutional challenge to Trump's 2024 run to go through a full trial. The case may be appealed to the Colorado Supreme Court or the US Supreme Court.
