Khalia Campbell, a 30-year-old company member of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, is featured in Crain's New York Business' "40 UNDER 40" list. Campbell, a South Bronx native, was inspired to join the renowned dance company after seeing its members on a city bus. Dance has been a part of her life since before she was born, and she has pursued her passion through various opportunities, including a European tour with Ailey. Although she regrets not attending college at 18 to pursue dance professionally, she is now eager to learn the business side of performing arts to bring her creative ideas to the stage and provide opportunities for newcomers.
