      According to preliminary data from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the production of poultry meat increased by 0.6 percent in the first three quarters of 2023 compared to the same period last year. This moderate increase occurred despite a decrease in the number of slaughtered animals by 1.6 percent. However, the average weight of the animals increased, leading to a larger quantity of meat. The production of turkey meat increased by 1.3 percent, while the production of duck and goose meat declined. Chicken meat remains the most important poultry species. [Extracted from the article]
