      A recent study examined the cost-effectiveness of government rebates for high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters in managing asthma and preventing exacerbations caused by wildfire smoke in British Columbia, Canada. The study used a Markov model to analyze health outcomes over a 5-year period and found that HEPA air filter use resulted in increased costs but also increased quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs) per person. The cost-effectiveness of the filters varied across different regions, with a full rebate being cost-effective in one region and rebates up to two-thirds of the filter cost generally appearing cost-effective.
