Strategic thematic axes in security and defense in Colombia. (English)

The security and defense landscape is changing and gradually presents more numerous and varied challenges, which should be understood both for practical purposes in decision-making and for investigative purposes. The objective of this article is to identify the main thematic axes at a strategic-level affecting Colombia’s security and defense. Under a qualitative approach, a content analysis of 62 specialized documents and the opinion of 67 experts was carried out, which allowed the identification of 25 thematic axes for Colombia’s security and defense. Among the findings, transnational organized crime stands out as the most important issue, followed by political and governmental issues, and economic issues. El panorama de seguridad y defensa es cambiante y gradualmente presenta retos más numerosos y variados, que conviene comprender tanto para efectos prácticos en la toma de decisiones como para efectos investigativos. El objetivo de este artículo es identificar los principales ejes temáticos de nivel estratégico que afectan la seguridad y defensa de Colombia. Bajo un enfoque cualitativo, se desarrolló un análisis de contenido sobre 62 documentos especializados y se indagó la opinión de 67 expertos, lo cual permitió identificar 25 ejes temáticos para la seguridad y defensa de Colombia. Entre los hallazgos se destaca el crimen trasnacional organizado como el tema más importante, seguido por asuntos de política y gobierno, y los asuntos económicos.
