Feminism in American Progressive Education Research. (English)

- Abstract:
Since the rise of women's history in the 1970s, progressive education has become an important research theme in the history of American feminist education. Based on the criticism of the male-dominated progressive education research, feminists made a gender analysis of Dewey's life and education thoughts, and at the same time added the neglected contribution of women to the progressive education research, set off the women's recovery project. After the 1990s, researchers paid attention to the differences of race and class in female groups, and brought the educational activities of black women into their field of study. In the writing of history, they were no longer satisfied with the statement of facts and sought discourse analysis by incorporating gender into the social power system. The research approaches from simple addition to focusing on differences and from recovering the women's contributions to historical interpretation reflect the influence of the development and changes of American historiography and women's historiography.
