SHAKESPEARE IN THE LIGHT OF THE THEORY OF NEW HISTORISM AND PRESENTISM: HISTORY AND POLITICS INSTEAD OF THEMES AND CHARACTERS IN HISTORY PLAYS AND TRAGEDIES. (English)

Due to changes in philosophical and political attitudes during the last thirty years of the twentieth century, new literary crtics that appeared advocated the idea that everything happens in space and time and that there are no values that cannot be changed. Character analysis critics treat the characters in the plays as unique individuals; they believe that the action of the play derives from the character, overlooking the character’s role as an expression of the society and culture described in the play. For critics of new historicism and cultural materialism, however, the context of society, that is, the way in which the power functions in a society and the nature of social justice are very important, and the characters are first viewed in that context. Critics of presentism see Shakespeare`s plays as a product of a certain time in history, but which are read now, in a world with different social relations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Услед промена у филозофским и политичким ставовима током последњих тридесет година двадесетог века, појавиле су се нове струје у књижевној критици које су за разлику од ранијег проучавања тема и ликова у Шекспировим драмама заступале идеју да се све дешава у простору и времену и да не постоје вредности које се не могу променити. Критичари који се баве анализом карактера третирају ликове у комадима као јединствене појединце; они сматрају да радња драме произилази из лика, превидеши улогу лика као израз друштва и културе описане у драми. За критичаре новог историзма и културног материјализма, међутим, контекст друштва, односно начин на који власт функионише у једном друштву и природа социјалне правде су веома важни и ликови се прво посматрају у том контексту.
