DEPARTMENTS The Ozarks cover most of the southern half of Missouri; much is in the Mark Twain National Forest. Eastern red cedar, blackjack oak, post oak, winged elm, and gum bumelia are the woody plants present, but it is the non-woody plants found in this habitat that are unique. By mid-April, common species of sedge begin to flower, including fringed sedge, Mead's sedge, Short's sedge, green foxtail sedge, and porcupine sedge. [Extracted from the article]
