    • Abstract:
This article reports that after 10 months of negotiations, Chicago convention industry and union leaders last week unveiled an agreement designed to make McCormick Place more cost-competitive with its archrivals in Las Vegas and Orlando, Florida. But given exhibitors longstanding complaints about doing business at McCormick Place, last week's pact appears to be too little, too late. For exhibitors, the most nagging issues have been union work rules that can drive the cost of putting on shows at McCormick Place beyond that of other cities.
