    • Abstract:
This article presents a research guide to biography and criticism on the works of author Christopher Isherwood. In the book "Isherwood's Fiction: The Self and Technique," Lisa M. Schwerdt examines Isherwood's fiction to describe the various stages of his emotional and spiritual development, using the scheme of maturation developed by Erik Erickson. Biographical details are related to Isherwood's works to reveal a significant interpenetration of life and art. In this approach, Schwerdt owes much to Isherwood's previous biographers, Alan Wilde and Brian Finney. The bibliography is exceptionally thorough.
