      The project "Start Low" scientifically investigates how a reduction of salt, sugar, and fat in daycare meals affects children. It emphasizes that children have heightened taste perception and therefore salt and sugar should be used sparingly. In collaboration with a food provider, recipes for a main course and desserts were revised to reduce the salt, sugar, and fat content. The optimized meals were positively accepted by children aged 4 to 6 years. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. [Extracted from the article]
