Celebrating Dads in Picture Books.

The article presents brief information about the picture books recommended for children in elementary schools. These picture books focusing on loving relationships between fathers and their young children lagged behind those about mothers. For children belonging to single-parent homes, such books offer role models of the paternal parent often not present in children's daily lives. Some of the books are: "The Very Best Daddy of All," by Marione Dane Bauer; "Little Loon and Papa," by Toni Buzzeo; "I Love My Daddy," by Sebastien Braun; and "The Daddy Mountain," by Jules Feiffer.
