      This article reports that Nancy Burpee, a swimmer has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), a rare and painful genetic disease that statistically should kill her sometime in the near future. No, she's not complaining about her EDS, a rare and painful genetic disease that statistically should kill her sometime in the near future. Burpee was born with EDS, which according to the EDS National Foundation, is a disease that prevents the body from producing normal collagen. Life expectancy for this form of EDS is early 40s. Burpee hit 40 several months ago.
