Modern narrative studies have unanimously agreed that the function of the narrator in the narrative text is not limited to narrating events to the recipient, but rather transcends this main function to carry out other very important functions, and that these functions, according to the opinion of (Vladimir Propp) are not determined in his personal qualities and characteristics, but are determined by the actions that It is carried out and that researchers did not set a fixed number of them, or focus on some of them without others, but rather gave priority to knowing them; Because of its importance in analyzing and understanding the narrative text, and clarifying the authority of the studied discourse and the visions and viewpoints it contains. لقد أجمعت الدراسات السردية الحديثة على أن وظيفة الراوي في النص السردي ال تقتصر على سرد األحداث إلى المتلقي ، وإنما يتخطى هذه الوظيفة الرئيسة لينهض بوظائف أخرى مهمة جدا ، وأن هذه الوظائف بحسب رأي (فالديمير بروب) التتحدد في صفاته وخصائصه الذاتية، وإنما تتحدد باألعمال التي يقوم بها وأن الباحثين لم يضعوا عددًا ثابتًا لها، أو التركيز على بعضها من دون بعضها اآلخر ، وإنما اعطوا األولوية لمعرفتها؛ ألهميتها في تحليل النص السردي وفهمه ، وتوضيح سلطة الخطاب المدروس وما يشتمل عليه من رؤى ووجهات نظر .
