    • Abstract:
The article reports on the decision of the Archdiocese of Detroit to close eight high schools and seven elementary schools in Detroit, Michigan. The decision ended efforts by the business community to save some of those schools. Those involved in the fundraising efforts say they would have liked more time to close the funding gap. According to Karl Kiser, president of University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy in Detroit, problem with Catholic schools in general is that they were late to the endowment game.
