This paper reports on the results of a survey that searched for the optimum acquisistion policy, to improve circulation control and to develop rules of differentiated storage of periodicals at the national Technical Library of Hungary. The results indicate that part of the theoretical journals collection is no longer in use, that there are many redundant ephemeral bulletins, and that, consequently, acquisitions should be more carefully scrutinized.
