- Abstract:
All eleven NEC corporate libraries are managed by a single system that centralizes information and simplifies the interlibrary loan process. A new system named Booknavi has been developed that takes advantage of the expanding Internet by offering improved service and increased book lending activity. Using this system, users can obtain information on books in all company libraries, including information about book location and availability, and they can reserve books from their own computer terminals. In the first six months since its launch in August 1999, the Booknavi system has improved book circulation greatly. Presents a summary overview of the Booknavi service, and reports on its effectiveness. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
