RPAS Photogrammetry for the Identification of Puruha Sites in the Guano River Micro-Basin, Ecuadorian Andes. (English)
    • Abstract:
This paper shows the archaeological survey of unpublished pre-Hispanic sites belonging to the Puruha culture in the Lluishi plateau (Guano River micro-basin, central Andes of Ecuador), by using RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft System) photogrammetry techniques. The identified sites, which represent an important variability of archaeological contexts (domestic, ceremonial and road), were recognized through the recording of surface anomalies (formations or deformations) in digital elevation models (DEM), being subsequently identified in the field by means of surface archaeological surveys. This is so because the space is structured by a metric and relational disposition of modifications and deformations where Puruha social actions (AD 800-1530) impregnated material consequences with cultural significance. • Abstract:
