NF1 versus Legius syndrome - How to establish the correct diagnosis? (English)
- Abstract:
Type I neurofibromatosis, also called von Recklinghausen disease, is one of the most common entities in the broad spectrum of neurocutaneous syndromes, a genetic pathology with autosomal dominant transmission characterized mainly by the presence of tumors, both of the peripheral, central nervous system, but also at the skin level. It is one of the most common genetic diseases, with a prevalence of 1 per 3000 births, with multisystemic implication, a pathology that affects individuals not only physically, but also in terms of quality of life through aesthetic aspects, through the numerous investigations that they have to carry out and the acceptance that both the patient and his family are in a constant "struggle" with a chronic disease. In order to ensure the highest standards of care, the initial challenge is to establish an early diagnosis, this being facilitated by the existence of clinical diagnostic criteria, currently being proposed for review, in line with current clinical practice. - Abstract:
