EMISSARIES IN SALZBURG: THE ROLE OF THE FUNDACIÓN JUAN MARCH IN THE RECEPTION OF ORFFSCHULWERK IN SPAIN (1962-1966). (English)
    • Subject Terms:
    • Abstract:
The Fundación Juan March (Madrid, 1955) institutionalised an important patronage programme that included grants for studies abroad in different areas. Among the grants devoted to music, six were awarded between 1962 and 1966 for courses on the Orff method in Salzburg. The aim of this paper is to examine the role of the Foundation in the reception of the Orff-Schulwerk in Spain, as well as to shed light on the philosophy, content and structure of the training activities carried out. The main source used was the internship reports generated by the beneficiaries after their stays. The analysis reveals the pioneering role of the institution in the introduction of this innovative pedagogical proposal in Francoist Spain, and clarifies previous ideas on the subject. The subsequent spread of the Orff-Schulwerk in Spain was to bring about a radical change in basic music education in line with the liberal postulates of the new Law. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
    • Abstract:
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
