CHARACTERISTICS OF THE STRUCTURE AND MORPHOMETRY OF THE BALI DUCK LARGE INTESTINE IN STARTER, GROWER, AND FINISHER PHASES. (English)
    • Abstract:
Bali duck (Anas sp.) is a native germplasm to Indonesia which is used for its meats and eggs. The existence of bali ducks has not received special attention regarding the basic structure and morphometry of life-supporting organs, especially the large intestine. As the period of growth, the organs of bali ducks experience the development of weight and structure. This causes differences in the structure and morphometry of the large intestine at different ages. This study used male bali ducks with three age groups representing each phase, especially the starter phase (1 month), the grower phase (3 months), and the finisher phase (5 months). Left and right caecum and colon 1 month old bali ducks measurement results include length, wide, and weight were 14.65±0.65 cm, 1.16±0.23 cm, 1.10±0.32 g; 13.70±0.87 cm, 1.01±0.24 cm, 0.96±0.41 g; and 8.05±0.74 cm, 1.76±0.28 cm, 2.32±0.11 g. Left and right caecum and colon 3 month old bali ducks were 15.43±1.65 cm, 1.05±0.06 cm, 1.83±0.20 g; 13.83±1.59 cm, 1.03±0.10 cm, 1.83±0.20 g; and 9.08±0.81 cm, 2.15±0.26 cm, 4.66±0.88 g. While the left and right caecum and colon 5 month old bali ducks were 18.45±1.34 cm, 1.09±0.96 cm, 2.16±0.32 g; 17.63±1.32 cm, 1.05±0.05 cm, 2.05±0.42 g; and 10.33±1.50 cm, 2.21±0.23 cm, 5.25±0.38 g. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the anatomical and histological structures of each age are not different, but from the morphometric observation it can be concluded that the age difference has a significant effect on increasing the morphometry of the large intestine anatomy of bali ducks. • Abstract:
