      I dreaded the trip; the free trip to Northwestern University to give a paid invited lecture. On the first day, Dr. Mary Pat Brady (Cornell University NY) opened the conference with a keynote address entitled, "Scaling Dispossession: Latinx Literature and Gentrification." In her talk, Brady connected numeracy and systems of fiancé to the colonial project of slavery and racial capitalism as a way to discuss a current moment of Latinx literature deeply concerned with gentrification of Latinx neighborhoods.
