Keywords: allergic contact dermatitis; delayed hypersensitivity; epidemiology; general population; systemic contact allergy EN allergic contact dermatitis delayed hypersensitivity epidemiology general population systemic contact allergy 54 56 3 06/12/23 20230701 NES 230701 INTRODUCTION Depending on patch test system, the frequency of detection of contact allergy may differ, although the same batch of the sensitizer is used and tested simultaneously.[[1]] Hereby, comparisons of patch test data become more difficult unless it is known/demonstrated that the systems used do not differ, or to which extent they differ, concerning the capacity to trace contact allergy to a certain sensitizer.[[2]] In a recent study on contact allergy in individuals with fibromyalgia, IQ Ultra (IQ-U) chambers were used.[4] Contact allergy to gold sodium thiosulphate (GST) seemed overrepresented in the fibromyalgia individuals (data will be presented separately). Occasionally, it might be important to confirm/rule out contact allergy to a special sensitizer in a patient with only limited possibilities of changing the patch test procedure.[[1], [3]] This study shows that another test method can be an option in this situation. 1 TABLE Comparison of patch test reactions in dermatitis patients simultaneously tested with Finn Chambers AQUA (FCA) and IQ Chambers (IQ).
