Quality and rigor in qualitative research.

The paper aims to broaden the debate on the quality and rigor of qualitative research in order to highlight factors in its conduct and implementation in education, in terms of the identification, collection and analysis of data, by which phenomena are interpreted through an iterative process that allows for movement between theory, evidence and criteria of excellence. Qualitative research is also examined from the point of view of the researcher's accountability and ability to affect the logic of decision-making as the study proceeds, a fundamental characteristic that connotes the rigor of its conduct. Il contributo si propone di ampliare il dibattito sulla qualità e sul rigore della ricerca qualitativa al fine di metterne in luce fattori di conduzione e realizzazione in educazione, in termini di identificazione, raccolta e analisi dei dati, con cui si interpretano i fenomeni attraverso un processo iterativo che consente di muoversi tra teoria, evidenza e criteri di eccellenza. La ricerca qualitativa viene anche esaminata dal punto di vista della responsabilità e della capacità del ricercatore di incidere sulla logica del processo decisionale man mano che lo studio procede, caratteristica fondamentale questa che ne connota il rigore di conduzione.
