Experts recommend planning the handover three to five years before the planned date. Most successors come from the same district as the company. The takeovers are often successful, as 40 percent of the successors increase turnover and another 44 percent maintain it. When handing over to family members, it is important to create a fair and attractive offer. If no family members are suitable, handing over to own executives can be a good option. It is advisable to identify potential successors early on and have a plan B. A contract for purchase or lease should also be concluded at least one year before the handover.
