History of the Atlantic World and History of Africa: two medium and long-term approaches to help to understand the contemporary. (English)

The teachings of History of the Atlantic World and History of Africa aim not only to provide students with knowledge of the events and actors who over the centuries of the modern and contemporary age have led to the construction of the Atlantic space, but also to develop the ability to identify the tools necessary to understand the evolutionary dynamics in their continuity, discontinuity and variability as well as to develop the ability to analyze and use the knowledge learned to in - to interpret the Atlantic (and African) reality in a comparative key, and again to interpret the information acquired in the light of historical and historiographical processes and, last but not least, to manage and analyze them also in the face of new ones. Gli insegnamenti di Storia del mondo atlantico e Storia dell’Africa si propongono non solo di far acquisire la conoscenza degli eventi e degli attori che nel corso dei secoli di età moderna e contemporanea hanno condotto alla costruzione dello spazio atlantico ma anche di sviluppare la capacità di individuare gli strumenti necessari per comprendere le dinamiche evolutive nella loro continuità, discontinuità e variabilità oltre che di sviluppare la competenza di analizzare e utilizzare le conoscenze apprese per interpretare la realtà atlantica (e africana) in chiave comparativa, e ancora di interpretare le informazioni acquisite alla luce dei processi storici e storiografici e, non da ultimo, di gestirle e analizzarle anche a fronte delle nuove.
